40 Days of Praying and Fasting

Today ( NOV 22 ), we begin a season of 40 days of prayer to end the year.  We want to end this year not wishing it away but praying that God would use it to bring revival and renewal to our hearts to our church and our city. We also want to keep it as simple as possible, so we are using Psalm 85:6 as our focus.

“Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you?”

Over the next 40 days we will pray twice a day and dedicate Wednesdays to fasting.

Each day at 8:56 am and 8:56 pm, take a few moments to recite that verse and this brief prayer:

Father Son and Holy Spirit,

Make us aware of our need for you.

Renew and revive us by the Holy Spirit.

That we may dwell in your presence daily.

That we may see your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven

That we would share the Good News of Jesus.

That salvation would come to our city.

We wait and long for you. We ask for your wisdom and provision. Renew us that we may rejoice in you.

Amen

Set an alarm or reminder, pray alone, as a family, or with others. Commit to praying daily for God to revive our church and us.

On Wednesdays, we will FAST together.

You can fast for a meal, or two meals, or the whole day. We fast to humble ourselves before God and to seek his guidance. “Fasting is a physical exclamation point at the end of our pleas to God.” - John Piper.

Let’s press into God together as we end this year.
