BLESS Rhythms -EAT

Week of July 12th

As we remember and focus on the EAT rhythm, take some time to remember, read and listen. Then, make a plan on how you will practice this rhythm this week.

EAT: - Sermon

So much of Jesus’ life in the Gospels is centered around meals. In fact, on author said that if you read the Gospels, you will see that Jesus is eating with people, on his way to a meal, or coming from a meal.

It shouldn't be a surprise to us how important meals are. We need them for our personal nourishment. But, we also need to share meals with others. We need interaction. We need to commune with God and others. So much life is shared around the table.

In my years of youth ministry, I saw this play out time and time again. The meal after our Wednesday or Sunday evening teaching was often what was remembered most. We learned about each other, developed close relationships, and wrestled with real questions.

As you think about the EAT rhythm this week, I would encourage you to look at this article from Saturate the World about Eating Together. You can read it by clicking the picture below.

  • Here are some questions from the end of the article:

  • How does your community share meals?

  • How can you eat with glad and generous hearts?

  • How can the gospel become more clear as you share a meal with folks?

  • How often should you get together to share a meal during the week? How does your community remember Jesus in these meals?

  • Most people eat 21 meals a week, how could each person in your community share at least one of them with others?
